About me

My name is Sonja Huč and I am a marine biologist working on deep-sea invertebrate taxonomy and phylogenetics, but have been a naturalist all my life, since 1997. I got my BSc in Biology from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, my MS in Marine Biology at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California San Diego in the lab of Dr. Greg Rouse, and I am currently working towards my PhD in Integrative, Comparative & Marine Biology at the University of North Carolina Wilmington in the lab of Dr. Ken Halanych. One of my obsessions that I am most passionate about is shells, so this page is primarily dedicated to showcasing my collection of physical Mollusca shells and photos of live specimens. I am also interested in most, if not all, marine (and other) life, so other species will find themselves on this page, too. I also dabble in writing and I enjoy photography, so some of that will be shared on here as well. Basically, in (a lot of) time, this page will embody who I am. Welcome!

*Please keep in mind this website is a work in progress, the collection I have up so far is only a marginal fraction of my full collection, but I hope to eventually have everything cataloged!*
